1. Dharm, is the manifestation of natural laws that govern the universe and all its creation. Thus, Dharm can never be formed by an individual; it only continues evolving over a period of time through the collective wisdom of generations before. The basis of Dharm, always, is truth and righteousness. Religion can be founded by any individual on the basis of an arbitrary set of dogmas that the founder picks. Then, the founder becomes the prophet/Guru/ for that religion and the dogmas, or a set of rules to go by, form his religion. 2. Dharm cares for the entire humanity Religion only thinks about the people of its 'own' faith and Religion has a long, blood-soaked history of slaughtering millions of innocent people 3. In Dharm the reason, philosophy and psychology play greater role. Dharm respects everyone. Religious people are often arrogant and consider themselves as superior and always right. 5. Dharm is open for discussion; alternative views are entertained in it. It even encourages expression of differing opinions or belief system Religion has closed ideology or no ideology. It destroys the freedom of thought and expression by sustained, systematic and ruthless attacks 6.Dharm is based on the ancient, original thinking. Religion is bitterly opposed to the ancient original values. Hence the word religion is not the right one for Sanatan Dharm/Hinduism.Religion is the right word for all the 'created' ones, having a History and date of their 'creation'.Hence the Dharm remains Sanatan {eternal } always MORAL: If you remove one holy book or one main person from the religion or one main holy place,the existence of religion comes under threat of extinction but when it comes to Dharma you remove all books , all religious places , all saints who have contributed from society and even god from it, still dharma will exist in the eternal world of mankind (meditation/inner knowledge/spiritual knowledge ) Jai Satya Sanatan Dharm
Is Dharma religion? Generally the equivalent of Dharm in English is considered "religion". However, this translation is based on a fundamental misunderstanding since if "religion" means :- the condition of belonging to a religious order, a particular religious or monastic order, a particular system of a belief in a supernatural power, Then Dharm has nothing to do with religion. In this sense, the Sanskrit word for "religion" can be "sampradaya" or "Mata", but not Dharm. If "religion" means belief in a superhuman controlling power, entitled to obedience, reverence, and worship, then it is just an aspect of Dharm, viz. devotion to the Divinity. In this sense, the Sanskrit equivalent of "religion" can be "Shraddha" or bhakti", but not Dharm because, as described above, the true realm of Dharma extends far beyond just that. Either way, Dharma is NOT religion.
Thank you for pointing that out. So many English books still refer to SD as religion, when in fact it is not, or is so much more than that. It bothers me when I see this in books, as I am trying to learn about SD, but I keep running into books released by supposed Jagadgurus for the western market, only to find concepts such as salvation, heaven, complete surrender to god, and abandoning worldly affairs. It's like I'm running through a thick forest as fast as I can, but I'm having to dodge these trees of falsehood.
well in-completion is part of nature and being SD you shouldn't be worried about books and all ..they are part of world and negativity will always remain where there will be positivity..we need both to run the world.
