If Christians celebrate Christmas and Jews celebrate Hanukkah, then what are some holidays that Hindus celebrate?
You ask such good questions. This one isn't easy at all. Hinduism is just so vast, with so many sects, each celebrating different holidays. So is the culture of India vast. There are at least 20 languages with over 20 million speakers, and each has a unique set of holidays. In all my years of researching this, I have yet to find a comprehensive list. Taking New Year's as an example, there are several New Years. Next week we celebrate Tamil New Year here at the temple I go to, but it may well be unheard of elsewhere. Here is one list ... http://www.calendarlabs.com/hindu-calendar but is certainly not complete, as I know of several more on there. All Hindus will have their own particular favorites and ones they celebrate as well as ones they've never heard of. Sorry it's not simpler.
