There is no doubt even today, that Hinduism is critically against the idea of Hinduism. Even in ancient times, adultery was witnessed and the same has been found in the Hindu mythology. For instance, Lord Rama had banished his wife Sita in the forests for possible adultery. Also, there is a story in the great Puranas of Ahalya. She is also said to have an illicit relationship with Indra. Adultery is not only considered as a moral sin, but also as a social evil as it leads to intertwining of different castes and religions. Adultery is still prominent all over the world and is strongly criticized by the Hindu religion.
Adultery is not really a good thing to do in my opinion, no matter what the religion is. It is indeed a moral sin and should actually be prohibited in my view.
