The Dashavatar of Lord Vishnu, the supreme God and the Preserver of this earth. The word "Dasavathar" means 10 Incarnations (Das - 10, Avathar - Incarnation).

The 10 Avathars are as listed below:
    1. Mathsya
    2. Kurma
    3. Varaaha
    4. Narsimha
    5. Vamanaa
    6. Parasurama
    7. Ram
    8. Balaram
    9. Krishna
    10. Kalki
One of the most famous verses of the Mahabharat goes like this:

    Yadaa Yadaa hi Dharmasya
    Glanirbhavati Bharata
    Abhyuttanam Adharmasya
    Tadaatmaanam Srujamyaham
    Paritranaya Sadhunaam
    Vinaashaya ch Dushkritaam
    Dharmasansthapanarthaya
    Sambhavami Yuge Yuge

These lines have been spoken by Lord Krishna. The literal meaning is that whenever Adharma (injustice) reaches a particular limit and righteousness (Adharma) is at stake, I (Lord Krishna) come down to protect the weak poeple and destroy evil, thereby re-establishing goodness on the earth. This is the common thread linking all the Dasavathars of Lord Vishnu
