NO ... THEY WERE DESTROYERS ....WHO OVERSTAYED

Mahmud Ghazni, the Islamic terrorist invader, conquered the major areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan by routing the Shahi dynasty amid the scenes of mindless carnage of Hindus and also crushed Sukhpal, the king of Bhatinda around 1001-1013 CE. He looted the temples of Thanesar in 1014 CE. Mahmud led an expedition to loot Kanauj in 1018 CE.

According to Muslim historians, Mahmud crossed Yamuna on 2nd Dec 1018 CE (20th day of Rajab, 409 AH) and arrived at Barba or Baran (identified with Bulandsahar). The panicked Dor Rajput clan king Haradutta (7th king) agreed to convert and accepted Islam with his 10,000 people. Mahmud next attacked on the king Kulachandra of Mahaban of Mathura Dist. The brave king Kulachandra fought with his 50,000 solders but lost. Finally, he slew his wife and himself with a dagger to avoid forcible conversion to Islam. Mahmud looted and desecrated many temples of Mathura. Thereafter, He invaded Kanauj on 20th Dec 1018 CE (8th day of Shaban, 409 AH). According to Tarikh-i-Yamini of Utbi, Rai Jaipal of Kanauj panicked and fled to Bari.

Mahmud and his solders plundered Kanauj city and razed more than 10,000 temples to the ground.
