    Pranava Swaroopam…

    Shuklam bharadaram Vushnum sasivarnam chaturbhujam Prasanna Vadanam Dhyayeet sarva Vighnopa shantaye.

    Om Ganapataye Namaha:---
    “Tadevarda Matra Nirbhasam Swaroopa Soonyamiva Samadhi” –Patanjali

    When ‘formlessness’ is all that exists, and that alone shines as the sole meaning of everything, it is called ‘Samadhi’. The object of meditation differs from the object itself in name, mature and form .i.e. when the object's attributes completely dissappears, it gives rise to the "parabrahma" or the "Eternal Light".

    The Unexplainable, Incomparable, Out of the World Bliss experienced near our Swamiji is one example for the above described state of ‘Eternal Parabrahman’s Light’. Through his speeches, teachings and Bhajan’s, this embodiment of mantra(Mantra Mughdha), is able to act as a Transmitter of this eternal light.In this article, is described the various blissful details of truth that have stricken me in the course of listening to them by His Holiness grace.

    Man, as he is, wishes the almighty for various needs and greed’s of the world and above. When man realizes his need to quench his spiritual and Tattvic thirst, he begins a search and in the process tries to satisfies his soul…

    Jayalakshmi Mata, the Universal mother and the mother of Sri Sri Ganapathy Sachidananda Swamiji, with her sanct, belief and dedication to Lord Ganesha right at an early age alongside the figurative prayer of Ganapti as her very own doting son, resulted in our Sri Ganapathy Sachidananda Swamiji who is uplifting souls through gyana, Bhakti, Yoga, Karma, Raja Bhajana Yogas and so on.

    When one focuses their mind on the eternal Almighty with consistent belief in the Vedas and their teachings of the way of life, one is sure to see amazing results.

    Does it sound like a believable phenomenon? Yes. It idoes and it is. This is seen in Sri Ganapathy Sachidananda Swamiji, whom we respectfully look up to and believe.

    A guru leads us to the eternal in various ways... all paths leading to one god… Bhajana margam is one such path.

    Through Sri Swamiji's bhajans one can experience God in a Blissful Eternal Glow- Ananda Anubhava Divya Prakasam. His bhajans are able to convey the eternal happiness of realizing the truth of our pursuits, when listened to and sung with devotion and belief. Whether one completely understands the hidden meaning of these bhajans or not, they still leave upon one a blissful impact.

    All the Gods are worshipped thoroughly and with grat respect in Sri Swamiji’s bhajans. They have made God and his powers easy to understand to the common man, and they also make the knowledge enjoyable.Swamiji with his knowledge in the Bhajan setting(sampradaya), nama’s words, bheejakshara words like the Ganapati, and with the eternal guidance of Jayalakshmi mata has given his bhajans the power to spread peace, happiness and prosperity. And he has given the responsibility of that power (His Bhajans) to us. A tiny match can set a forest on fire. Similarly, the day and night efforts of great people resulting from continuous friction of their thoughts is a certain sign for attaining success and the desired result against all obstacles.

    Our Vaidika culture professes the Shanmata’s namely :-

    1. Ganapatyam
    2. Shaivam
    3. Vaishnavam
    4. Souram
    5. Shaktyam
    6. Skandeyam
    For the Manifestation and sustenance of Universe, the Omnipresent only one almighty expresses itself in various energy forms materializing in various physical forms for the purpose of Srishti Sthiti and Layam(Production, Sustenance and Termination).Thus the various energy forms manifest and get personified with the ultimate goal always being ‘Lokakalyanam’.The mere forms of the Exhaustive energy are his shakti’s, significant and names.

    “Ekam sath Vipra Bahu daha vadantihi”-Thus declare our Vedas. In brief "One God, different forms".

    The one and only ‘paratattva’ (God/Energy) manifest itself in various forms. We worship the parattva in six forms whch is why the ‘shanmatas’ are also referred to as Vaidika matas. (Note:vaidika means pertaining to the Vedas, and its beliefs, which we all fall under).

    Pranavaswaroopam:

    Every divine concert of Sri Swamiji begins with the worship of Siddhi, Buddhi, Vara, Abhaya, Riddhi, Shakti,Bala, aruna, Bhakta, Vighna, Vinayaka, Dwaja, Vichishta, Kshipra, Maha, Vijaya, Akuvahana, Heramba, Laksmi, Prasanna, Veera,tharuna, Oordhva, Natana Ganapathy’s from their origin to their miraculous power.We as devotes must experience through Sri Swamiji in various advaita Tattva Saaram’s.

    If we take this further, the ‘parabrahma’ swaroopa is Ganapti himself! The veda tattva and Vedas themselves are Ganapathi. Any puja or karyam must begin with the worship of Ganapthi. The ‘omkara’ swaroopa Swami and the ‘Nirakara’ swaroopa Parabrahman in the unison have taken a form for the sake of devotees.

    “Upasakanam Hitardhaya Brahmano Rupakalpana”.

    The form donned will hence be depicting the tattva(root quality) in the manner in which his grace shall be honored, to suit the task and state(Karya and sthiti).Hence,

    “Shuklam Bharadaram Vishnum shahivarnam Chaturbhujam Prasanna vadanam Dhayeet sarva Vighnopa shantaye”

    We worship that Ganapathi who banishes all obstacles, One who has Prasanna Vadanam, which not only means one with a pleasant face but also means one who glows with the face of an elephant.

    ‘Pranamami Girija Sivananda Nandanam’.

    The fruit of the Unison of word and its meaning (Vakardha Phalamu), the Bestower of happiness, the Swami’s miraculous play will be described further in this article…

    Even before creation started, from the sankalpa(deep Intention) of Parabrahma, The Creation of ‘Brahma’ took place…

    On facing many obstacles in this process himself, Lord Brahma himself meditated upon the parabrahman responsible for his own making… Thus the paramatma manifested itself in the ‘Omkara’ roopam.

    When Lord Brahma meditated on the paramatma with omkaram, the OmkaraVajya paramatma donned a form for the sake of Brahma. The Omkaram of Swami, thus donned with an elephants face is emitting the scarlet glow as mentioned in the sloka. The earliest Pranava Nada Swaroopa is thus Ganapathi himself from the above description.

    ‘Antaraya Timiropa santaye, Shasta Pavana Machintya Vaibhavam’
    Tama Naram vapushi Kunjaram mukhe Manama Hi Kimapi Tundilam Mahaha

    That Unique mighty light, which is peaceful, sanct, and which cannot be gauaged by thought and is illuminating with glory.That light which can eradicate the darkness called Obstacle(Vighnam).That light is getting glorified with an elephants face and human body.

    That form, that mantram-Vakratunda mantram!

    Timing: Starting from the chaviti of Magha Krishna Chatturdhi, Bahula paksham, every bahula chaviti of every month is considered as ‘Sankashta hara chaturdi’.

    Vakratunda- One with a twisted tusk.One who abolishes the twistedness in anything.One who abolishes violence. Twistedness can refer to various obstacles that do not let our path flow smooth and straight. Swami abolishes such twistedness . When our thoughts are twisted, our actions get affected consequently.Vakratunda Swami must hence be worshipped before setting up any task.

    Let us look at the hidden essence of this Bhajan.

    That parabrahma is Parvati mata’s swaroopam. The parabrahma has taken the form of Ganapathy to proclaim to the world: the importance of a couple (dampatya Bhavana), the importance of mother, father and a family system, The Skandapurana enlightens us that the parabrahman himself has taken many forms for the sake of mankind.It is said that there are 56 ganapati’s in the kasi kshetram.In the 7 avarana’s present, each avarana has 8 Ganapathi’s , resulting in 56 Ganapathi’s in total.32 Ganapati mantras are told, other than this, 12 ganesha forms are depicted by tantra shastra’s.Though there appear to be countless Ganapathi’s, It is one Ganapathy in countless forms.

    This world is imbibed in 24 forms:

    ‘Moola parabrahma chaitanyam’.
    Avyaktam(One that does not appear)-Parabrahma, Maheshwara
    Vyaktamu(One that appears)-Ammavaru, atma, parashakti.
    Mahat(Ganapati)-static energy
    Ahankaram(Kumaraswamy)-dynamic energy
    Panchabhootas
    Pancha Gyanendrias
    Pancha karmendrias
    Pancha Tanmatras
    Vyaktamu and Avyaktamu:

    With the Parameshwara as ‘avyaktamu’, Jagadamba as ‘Vyaktamu’, all pervading with consciousnesss (Ahankaram) in the universe, they give rise to Ganapathi(Mahat Utkushtamainadi-supreme)

    Ahankaram:

    Kumaraswamy!

    There is no creation possible without Aham(Self consciousness).Only when "Me, Mine, I want" exists, one can lead a family life. The essence of all life’s wants and needs is ‘aham’, not necessarily greed or ego, It is a conscious filled energy that is with every life on earth.The ‘me consciousnerss’ is existant in nature.Wherever there is Bhagavat tattva, the ‘me’ consciousness will must and should exist as a proof of chaitanya(Life)

    Understanding ‘me’ properly leads to moksha.

    Aham-Brahmam-Moksham

    Myself-Brahmam-Salvation.

    Aham-Prapancham-Bandham

    Myself-World-Relation/Bonding

    Here, prapancham refers to the 'deham’(physical body). The merge of Worldlyness, physical self with the consciousness(aham) is gives rise to relations and bonds.

    The same consciousness in merging with the brahmam leads to salvation.Hence the tern ‘aham Brahmasmi’ has been coined.

    The entire literature of the universe is thus: Shiva-Jagadamba-Ganapaty and kumaraSwami.

    The Unison of man and nature(Prakriti purusha) leads to the awakening of chaitanya(Life)-leading to the consciousness of me, myself(aham). Understanding of this concept leads to the understanding of the brahmam. That which is between this Vyakti and Avyakti is only Mahat(Ganapathi). This Mahat is being considered to be ganapathy. As the first born, First prayed…

    Let us consider the mantram-

    “Gananam Twaam Ganapatigum Havamahe Kavim Kaveenam Upashramastamam”.

    In this mantra, ganamu and samuhamu depict the formful world.

    Kavi brahma-na-depict the soundful(nada)

    It describes the savior attribute of Lord Ganapathi who is the adhipati of the above mentioned.

    The entire Parabrahma tattvam is imbibed in that mantra by our veda maharshi’s.

    Oh Ganam of all Ganam’s, Lord Ganapathy, we invite and worship you.

    You are Kavinam Kavim- The poet of all poets.

    Upashra vastamam- One who can be told as gentle natured with immense fame and stands out exemplarily.

    “Sarvesham Annanam Upamano Yasya”

    Thus have quoted people who have analysed the Vedas. It means one who has ‘Anna Samriddhi’.One who is the Lord of all ganams.One who is amongst the ganams and is their Lord all the same.

    “JeshtaRajya”

    It refers to the one and only one primary entity, the first God, the leader, the King. Lord Ganapathy existed even before the start of creation and is the witness for the entire process. He is the designated leader of every task and enables its smooth running with his power.

    “Brahmanam Brahmanaspata”

    The brahma of all Brahmas. The lord of Brahma. Brahma refers to the special veda mantras that come into account in fulfilling tasks(Karma).

    Brahmana Shabdam-signifies karma(Action, task). The lord of this karma is Brahmanaspati. WHERE do we thus Invite such a lord to?

    Sadanam- Sadanasya Bhavam Sadhanam.

    Sadanam is a place like home. A place where a pyre can be set up for Yagna. Such a place is called a Sadanam. Any house which has become divine through prayer, Namasmarana, Upasana by its members can be called as ‘Sadanam’.

    To such a ‘Sadanam’, HOW is the lord welcomed?

    Aanah Shrunvanaha- Hear our call, Invitation, our prayer that we have made in our hearts, shrunvan (as one who hears).

    Uutibihi- With all his powers, equipped with all his powers, he is invited to our ‘sadanam’.

    Such is the way to call the lord which makes our sadanam sanct by his arrival.Every task, Yagnam will take place without any obstacles.Which is why the above mantram is chanted before every task, small to big.

    Hence we shall invite the Ganapati of all ganams, the poet of all poets,one who contains all wealth, one who is worshipped before anybody, one who is ‘Brahmanaspati’… as a result of which his powers of protection shall guard our ‘sadanam’ as we Invite him to our holy altar(Yagna sthalam).

    {Note:Kavi*- One who knows Mantras, who has thoughts that give him the power to perceive the ‘paramatma’. One who has immense power to understand the essence of anything/everything.}

    Kavyaha Kranta Darsana:

    The veda mantras are also called Kavi’s(Brahmanaspati) because like the Kavi’s, the veda mantras perceive the Lord and helps see him.Lord Ganapathy is the Kavi of Kavi’s. that is he is perceived with the best of that attribute.

    The Vedas help realize God;

    God is always watching the veda mantras and the nature;

    One who is beyond these perceptions is Lord ganapathy!

    {Note:Kavi*-One who has the power to see through, to perceive, one who has continuous in-depth thoughts . The Ganapathi’s energy(chaitanyam) is responsible for this.}

    Because, only after realizing all the truths of nature and perceiving the paratattvam through veda mantras, he can be understood. He is the Kavi of Kavi’s.

    With the tasks of the physical as ‘Indriya ganas’, thoughts as ‘Kavulu’, experience as ‘Anna’, Our karma's are only ‘Brahmana’s’. Only when that Ganapathy resides in our ‘sadanam’ and glows in a blissful form, will our physique be marvelous (Divyam)

    Therefore, in this note, realizing ones own self is realizing Ganapathy tattva. All these secrets are hidden in the bhajan-

    ‘Atma Vidya Dharanam-Nanda Sacchidanandanam’

    Nayakam Vinayakam.

    Brahmanaspati on a wider scale:

    Gana’s-Devatas-

    Kav’i-Mantras

    Brahman’s-Karma

    Upashravastamam-Anna samriddhi, Yagna Dravya, Yagna Samagri.

    To follow Karma and enjoy its fruit, whatever materialistic substances are needed, they are arranged by Lord ganesha himself.

    {Note-Annam*-which is desirable to experience its satisfaction.Annam not only refers to the food we eat, everything we experience, relish and cherish is ‘Annam’. Eye sight, proper functioning of ear, oratory abilities all come under ‘Anna samriddhi’.}

    Hence, the lord is worshipped as one with all this wealth in abundance.This ever pervading ganam, the perceiver of all ganams, the designated duty head for the execution of proper karma, the provider of any wealth present in the universe….

    We can extend its meaning to the level of the human body, as such:

    Ganas-Devatas-Sense Organs.All these sense organs together form one ganam.How many ever be the number of ganams, the chaitanya in all of them is the same.The paramatma who disciplines the array of our sense organs is in our heart(Hridayam). This dictator of our organs is the Paramatma, Ganapathi!

    Faith is the first step towards success, which is why the incarnation of faith and self confidence, Lord ganesha has become the first worshipped or primary God.

    The above mentioned four items are needed for any yagnam. The chief of all the four is the same paramatma. Still being one among the devatas, he has gained the position as the chief worshipped one. The captain of mantras, all the anna’s are obtained only through him. Hence, as he is the head of all tasks, It is but natural to call upon the chief for the success of any endeavor. The Vedas declare that the complete form of Parabrahma is of Lord Ganapathy.

    Ganamu-Group-there are many types of classifications of groups.

    The rudram states Ganebhyo Ganebhyascha namo namaha

    We can divide the Vast Universe into planets, stars, galaxies etc…

    The planets can be further divided into mercury, venus, mars, earth…

    On this Earth, Life is Classified as trees, Mountains, rivers etc…

    Trees are classified further as Fruiting ones, flowering ones , ashoka, Banyan etc…

    Mango trees again give rise to specie’s such as banganapally, juiced ones etc…

    Similarly, Mankind (ganam) is classified into woman, men, castes, subcastes, Good/Bad,Positions, Jobs etc…

    Ekam-Anekam: (One and many):

    The lord of these various Many ganams is One and Only One Ganapathy.Though there are countless Life forms that Can be classified under various ganams, The ganapathy is ONE.One who understand this concept can eradicate differential feelings towards all of Life and recognize it as one Brahma(All is Brahma:Sarvam Brahmamayam)

    Ganapati can also be described as Ekam Adviteeyam Brahma. The sound of ‘Ganapathy’ is parabrahma Vcahakam.The Gana’s are viEwed differently whereas the paramatma presiding in all these ganams is unified.

    ManisarvaMidam Praptam sookti mani Gana Vidaniva

    In the Bhagavat Gita, Lord Krishna states that all the Manis are within him and these manis are equivalent to Ganam’s. The lord of all Vighna’s, the abolisher of obstacles has the face of an elephant.It symbolizes and signifies mighty phenomenal glow, strong physique, that indicates vigor(Pushti) with pranava nadam and his mighty strength supporting all the Life systems of the Universe, thus the strong body is a mark of this quality. The ganam’s depict the world of ‘form’(structure; roopa Prapancham), the kavi, Brahmanas signify sound and action.

    Our entire Universe can be shown under form, sound and action. The chief authority of this discipline is the Lord Ganapathy only. Our entire Universe can be noticed under Form, Sound and Action categories with ganapathy leading the order of its course.

    The Yoga Shastra Vicharana(Thinker) is Ganapathi-the Moola dhara kshetra sthita, one who resides in the 'mooladhara kshetra' thereby awakening the Kundalini through Yoga vidya and attaining salvation. The thyagaraja kriti ‘Mooladhara nada Merugutayee mudamagu mokshamura’ describes it clearly that beginning of any Yoga vidya begins at mooladhara whose chief deity is again Lord ganapathy.

    Similarly, any Yogam must and should begin with a prayer to Lord Ganesha. When the mooladhara chaitanya is stricken, It marks a Major significant step in yoga sadhana.

    Calling Ganapathy the chief deity of Mooladharam doesn’t mean that he is not existant in the ‘sahasraram’. The same paratattvam pervades in all the chakras.The parabrahma who takes us through all the chakras step by step is the parabrahma who has re-crossed all the steps further down to settle in the Mooladhara to help the yoga practitioners to reach the sahasrara. No siddhi can be attained withoutGanapathy.

    “Tam ganapatim Yo Vismariti Loko santatam Mabhagyo Madyati shoke”-Kavyakanta ganapati mahamuni.

    One who forgets Lord ganesha will face sorrows and obstacles.Hence One must worship the abolisher of all Obstacles, Vighnadipati, Vighnarja before setting out on any task.

    Avvayar’s devotion-Swami’s leela:

    This devotee of Lord Ganapathy, Avvayar, sat with her Ganapathi idol and prayed to him. Some Yogis happened to pass by and asked her to join them in their journey to kailasa, but she refused not wanting to leave Lord Ganapathy’s side. The Yogi’s thus continued with out her to kailasam and to their sheer surprise found Avvayar sitting in kailasam already. Flabbergasted, they went back to ask her if she came along… and found her exactly where they left her worshipping the idol. She then explained that, pleased by her devotion, Lord Ganesha Transported her with his trunk to kailasam, in a jiffy.

    Sundaram Siddhi Buddhi Sundaresha nandanam

    Kshipra Prasadi:

    One who responds immediately to any plea. This Ganapathy bestows anugraham immediately. The names‘Ganesha’, ‘Ganapathy’ are mantras by themselves.There is as much power in the word(shabdam) as there is in its meaning(ardham). Even greater power actually….

    The power of meaning(ardham) might have limitations, but The power of sound(Shabdam) is limitless. This is the sole significance for the power of namocharana(chanting of namam). Merely chanting the name Ganesha can remove all obstacles.

    Ganesha Ganesha ganesha…Nirantara namasmarana sarvatra

    The chanting of ganesha is Victorious everywhere.

    Gam-Ganapathy related Bheejam.

    The Yoga kendrams of our body resonate to the chanting of this ‘Gam’ bheejam and all the namas starting with ‘Ga’ are favorable to Ganapathy.There is pious energy in it.

    The letter ‘Ga’ is in itself is a pious word.

    Ganesha, gajanana not only refers to the Lord of all ganas but also to the elephants face literally from the meaning of ‘gajanana’.Gajamukha, Gajavadana…

    The conscious or subconscious presence of Gati(ga) in a physically trapped body is marked by letter ‘Ga’.

    ‘Ja’ signifies birth or ‘Ja’nanam. Therefore, gaja also implies to the almighty who is creating these worlds, sustaining their movement in a particular direction, and ending them into himself. Hence, the head is only an implication. It has this significant truth hidden inside it.

    The entire Universe can be classified into these two ‘abhivyakteekarana’s

    Sookshamandamu (Micron); and

    Brahmandamu (Macron);

    They are mutual reflections. They exist as both in one single entity and as One in a dual entity. The Gajamukham as Brahmandam and the human body as Sukshmandam are existant as reflections to each other in one entity called as the ganesha. These both constitute the same function or the same set. Since the goal and nature of sookshmandam is to merge with the Brahmandam, The Brahmandam is seen with more importance and is signified as the ‘head’.

    The Chandogya Upanishad describes an in depth sookti that says ‘tattvamasi’ which tries explain the tattvika satyam. Tattvamasi means the Lord who is willing to appear within the grasp of the eye and is actually that eternal truth form which occupies the entire world(Vaisvika satyam). This Elephant headed, Human bodied form has laid its importance in every mahakavya of Vedanta..

    The elephant signifies the creator while the body of man, the Jeevam or earthling. This United lord expresses its relation as one.

    Ga-Knowledge and meaning-One who Gives Knowledge;

    Na-Happiness, Joy-One who Gives joy;

    Gana Together represents the Joyful Knowledgeable form.

    One who is gauged(Ganimpa baduta);

    Swami palako ganeshaha Ganapathy

    Everything in this world is within the reach of ganapthy… within his reach, within his calculations (Lekkaki andedi). Everything is out of reach for us. The Lord alone knows his limits, he lone can guage himself. If this calculative, Quantization of Universe is ganam, Its lord is Ganapathy.

    Vinayaka Vinayaka Vighna Vinashaka Vinayaka.

    Vighna Vinashaka, one who regulates obstacles. This position assigns to Swami the power to give and take obstacles. Hence, worship of this Lord regulates the obstacles in our Life. One might wonder why we must pray to the lord of Vigna’s, The giver as well as the taker? Well, it must be understood that obstacles act like a shield for us in preventing us from doing those acts we are not supposed to. The entire control is left in the hands of lord Ganesha. It is us who feel bad, when we face a delay of our train and the same us who turn grateful to God when we hear the news of its accident a little while later. Here the delay or the Vighnam or the obstacle was most necessary and is sent by Swami himself. Vinayaka is hence the chief commander of Vighnam’s with none above to command him.

    When someone initiates an evil regime that does no good to the world, our Swami sends an obstacle immediately to save the world. He always knows where to regulate his power.

    Some dangers occur in the fraction of a second, and some good too happens in a second… that is the power of time.depending on how it affects us, It is divided into,

    Anukulata(Favouring us);

    Pratikulata(Not in our favour).

    On careful observation, we note that these two can be driven as obstacles for us depending on the situation. Hence, we have no choice but to seek the blessings of Vigneshwara who is the chief of time(Kalam).

    Vigata nayakaha Vinayakaha.

    He is the chief of everything and has no one above him.

    Praying to this lord gives us the grace of two of his shakti’s, The Siddhi and Buddhi.With proper mindset, one can attain success to theirt tasks and also gain shubam(Victory) and Labham(Gain) who are said to be Swami's children. They are also called kshema(Safety) and Labham(Gain).

    The Ganapathy who is mentioned in the Vedas by the tantra shastras is portrayed with many more shalkti’s-that is the Panchamukha Ganapathy, vakra tunda Ganapathy,bala Ganapathy, taruna Ganapathy(the worship of this Ganapathy eradicates the problem of the mind and other psychological issues), vallabha Ganapathy, lakshmi Ganapathy, ekakshara Ganapathy etc….

    Ekadanta ganapathy:

    It literally means the Lord with only one tusk. Lord Ganapathy used his tusk to slay the demon, Tarakasura and regain peace in the world. Such is the power of his tusk. It is also said that, Ganapathy wrote the entire Mahabharata with his one tusk.

    Aneekadam Tam Bhaktaanam ekadantam upasmahe…

    The lord of infinite giving, with only one dantam is described as Eka sabda Pradhanascha dantascha Bala vachaka.

    Referring to the strength of the one tusk already used, we remind ourselves of the strength of the remaining one-

    Eka-One Dantam-One Tusk-Strength.

    The Initial, primary strength for anything is this ekadanta Ganapathy.

    Ekam Adviteeyam Brahma

    Here, it submits to the dual entity in one Brahma as discussed earlier.The Ganesha with an elephants facade and human body. Nrisimhavatara,

    Garutmantavatara, Hanuman avatara, hayagreeva avatara are all illustrative examples of this phenomenon.

    Face-Animal;

    Body-Human;

    Keeps harking back the duality of nature, mutual interdependence.The paratattvam that is all pervading cab be brought down to the mutual living of

    Fire-Water;

    Sun-Shade;

    Man-Animal.

    Similarly, Ganapathy is symbolizing this widespread nature’s trend in himself. "Gaja” refers to the destination of all Muni’s

    Ga-where all Yogi’s arrive (gacchati);

    Ja-From where the Viswam, everything originated (yatoo Jayate).

    From where the Universe originated, Is where all the Rishis reach, Originate… hence the Rishi’s are reaching the same Paratattvam.

    Therefore, The formlessness of Ganapathy signifies the empty space in the Universe. Avove this void is the paramatma signified by Ganapathy’s face (gaja-elephants).

    The Vallabhopanisad states ‘Narakaro maya-Gjakaro Purushaha’

    The part underneath the throat is the jagath(Universe), the part above the throat is ‘parabrahma’ which is glorified as the mark of ‘Omkara’. The functioning of our body is through the mind located inside our head where thoughts originate to regulate our senses and consequently our actions.

    Similarly, Parabrahmam is assigned to the head and the entire world under his control is assigneed to the human body regulating the universe.The parabrahma sustains the net energy constant all through the processes. In staying Beyond the universe, the Parabrahma is within the Universe. Hence, the humane form of creation which is always organized by the parabrahman is the symbolic synonym of Ganeshas form.

    Therefore, whether the Lord takes the Minor form(Anoraneeyam) or major form(Mahatoo Maheeyam), he is depicting the parabrahma tattvam everywhere in his existence.

    Sakti Ganapathy:

    In this Upasana of Lakshmi Ganapathy, Laksmi symbolizes ‘lakshana sakti’ (Characteristic energy) and also, of course, wealth.

    Ya devi sarva bhooteshu laksmi roopena samsthita, namastasyay namastasyay namastasyay namonamaha.

    Ones own strength, energy or passion is their Lakshmi. Just like how poetry is a passion for a poet, It becomes his shakti, his wealth or his Lakshmi. Whosoever is benefitted from their particular pursuits in their respective strengths, the pursuit which requires some energy is submitted as Lakshmi. Therefore the Parabrahmans shakti is Lakshmi. The characteristic of Ganapathy is shakti. His own characteristic is energy,beacuse Ganapathy is all pervading almighty, his shakti can also be called as Lakshmi. At this point, there is no difference between Vishnu, Maheshwara and Ganapathy.

    Bhayapaham saktiganeshameede//

    Shuklam Baradaram Vishnum, Sasi Varnam Chatur Bhujam,

    Prasanna Vadanan Dhyayet, Sarva Vighnopa Shantaye

    We have worshipped the lord who abolishes all obstacles, one with an elegant elephants face. All pervading eternal, Omnipotent, Omnipresent Tattvam is Vishnu tattvam and hence Ganapathy tattvam. At this point, there is no difference between the both. Lakshmi Ganapathy is the Ganapathy who is in the presence of Lakshmi(wealth).

    Vallabha Ganapathy:

    Refers to the Ganapathy with ten hands, five each on both sides, eleven including the trunk. In this Glowing figure, there are Five midhuna devathas, ten midhuna devatas in all. This Ganapathy is reffered to as Srividya Ganapathy

    Shiva tattvam-Shiva parvati-Shoolam, pasham

    Vishnu Tattvam-Lakshmi narayana-Shankam, Chakram,

    Rati manmadha-Rati devi, manmadha-Charuku, Nalla kaluva

    Sachi Purandara-Sachi devi, PurandaraBheeja Puram, ekadantam

    Bhumi varahamu-Bhudevi, varahamurthy-Varikankulu, gadha

    Swami has an amruta patra in the centre of his trunk which has all the precious stones(Ratnas) of the world in it, symbolizing moksha(Salvation), Kaivalya(Bliss) and brahmananda Prapti(Eternal happiness). It signifies the attainment of all these together in one place which is given by various Gods. It indicates all the Devata shakti’s in one place. Therefore, He is the form of all devats put together(sarva devata swaroopam). In any Upasana, any mantra signifies each Moorthi, In this form of Ganapathy, The sarvadevata swaroopam can be clearly figured. The head referes to the Paravbrahman while the Body refers to the Jagat or Universe as told earlier.

    Nartana Ganapathy

    The Dancing form of Ganapathy, the Dancer Ganapathy… having this Vigraham in the house and its prayer is of great significance. The worship of this God gives knowledge and Happiness. The dance form here depicts happiness. Ganapathy is known for his sense of humour. Wherever there is the presence of Ganapathy from micro to macro level, there is happiness. The dancing of Ganapathy with his full and laughing belly is really cute. The cuteness is not of worldly significance. Everything in this creation falls under a rhythmic pattern. Every time and rhythm are coordinated with each other which is why the Sun and Moon, all the Seasons go in a rhythmic pattern in synchronization with time. Even our breath runs rhythmically. This synchronization is possible only by Lord Ganapathy. This Narthana Ganapathy is responsible for it. Dance is hence in synchronization with time and rhythm, nature and its properties. Also, Nataraja is Shiva swaroopa and hence this indicates the characteristic feature of Nataraja, his father that got imbibed into himself…

    One who responds immediately, promptly and is pleased easily is Kshipra Ganapathy. Garika is a type of grass used in the worship of Ganapathy and is easily available anywhere. Rice balls, bananas, coconuts are all favourabe ro Swami. Whenever one leaves the home and enters home, it is important to look at an idol or frame of Ganapthy and seek his blessings for a safe journey and success. Also one must look at Ganapathy photo immediately after entering the house as a mark of gratefulness for reaching home safe.He is the god of Success who abolishes all obstacles. Vigneshwara, Vigna nayaka Gives Success.

    Heramba Ganapathy

    The Ganapathy who is In and around the presence of Lord Siva is called Heramba Ganapathy

    Purana’s state: ‘deenartha vachaka hyescha’ rambha is palaka vachakam. ‘Hee’ the sound of refers to the one who are in misery, ‘rambaha’ refers to one who leads these sorts. One who looks after his devotes in misery like a relative who has a bond with them.

    Ucchishta Ganapathy:

    Ucchishtam literally means Saliva. Whatever is once taken into the mouth is salivated. Ganams refer to devatas, as already seen, It is also the classification of worlds, letters etc, Omkara is the mother of all letters and is the bae or origin for every akshara. Many letters put together form words. Words put together form sentensces. Sentences put together form works of Literature that occupy legendary books and classics. Therefore, it was possible only for someone like Ganapathy to pen down the Mahabharata. He is the Kavi of all Kavi’s. Kavim kaveenam. Worshipping him, therefore provides literature power, thinking power, power of analysis, power of expression, power of akshara(word) which consequently results in wealth, as seen earlier that any strong energy put in a right pursuit results in laksmi(wealth)-this is proclaimed in the Vedas

    The way we pronounce these aksharams takes the help of tongue, teeth, lips, mouth, and friction of tongue with upper and lower jaws in different ways to produce different sounds. only then can the sound be hear properly which conveys a a particular meaning. Only then is the meaning that has originated in the heart is able to take a particular form with the help of Nada shakti or Sound energy. When these words finally come out of the mouth, they come with a little saliva…Therefore; Ucchishta Ganapathy is responsible in manifesting these words properly.

    Jihva simhasana Prabhuhu is another name given to the lord in the Ganapathy sahasranamams. Jihva means tounge. He is the lord who has seated himself on the tongue which is the icon of a throne. Akshara shakti, the energy of letter is pertaining around the throne of Ganapathy. If we assume this throne as a chariot, just like how a chief rides a chariot, these aksharams are being ridden by the lord. This chariot does not ride within any boundaries…It is fickle and fast. That tounge which moves randomly in our mouth hole is again symbolized by the mouse which is the vahanam(vehicle) of Ganapathy. when our tounge becomes the chariot, Ganapathy the rider, one can imagine what a result that might give!

    Another way to see this is, Mush is the Dhatu, Choruda means one who steals. We are represented as the mouse or thief.The typical characteristic of a mouse is to grab any food and chew it in a typical secretive corner. Our heart is the mouse which grabs the worldly pleasures, travelling many worlds on an anxious note, with wishes that lay unfulfilled… hence we must pray to that Ganapathy who has set himself in his best form on this mouse of a heart and is able to lead our thoughts in the proper direction to fulfill our rightful wishes. Any devata form can be depicted in ‘N’ number of ways with many examples all leading to same paramatma. The form of Ganapathy can be depicted characteristically like this.

    The Mugdala Purana also depicts the importance of Ganapathy Upasana. Skanda Purana has an entire chapter called ‘ganesha khandam’ dedicated to describe Ganapathy.

    Lambodara:

    One with a Huge belly. He has the entire world in his stomach. One who has all the aksharams saved in his belly. All these aksharams are ‘Omkara swaroopams’. All the aksharams are hidden in him.’The miraculous power of this God is told in infinite ways.

    In the Morgavu Kshetram of Maharshtra, lord Ganapathy is in the Mayura form. Yagna Ganapathy can be expressed as the Ganapathy in the form of a jyoti who resides in the yagna sadanam ( pyre or pit).yagnam is incomplete without fire. The Fire burns in many shades, like the peacock which stretches its feathers and expresses many shades…Hence, the reference of Mayura Ganapathy(Peacock Ganapathy) has its origins here.

    As mentioned in Swamijis Charitra number of times, The Chintamani Ganapathy manifests whatever is thought(chinta) in a particular form. In each name of Ganapathy, there is a purpose and meaning. We can perceive the depth of Ganapathy in sri Swamiji’s bhajans. When we consider the Ganapathy tattvam in different forms, different color also comes into play. We always depict ganesha in red color. What is the significance of this red color? In our Vedas, we have it stated that ‘varnanam Adyam Lohitam’. That is the first of all colors is red. Since, he is the Lord who is worshipped primarily before anything, he is depicted in red. Taking this further on a deeper note,we also see the color of sunrise is in the brightest f its red.It is the former moment of natures beginning.therefore, the former worshipped God must take the color of red, marking the sun, rhe start of a day.

    Why does Lord Ganapathy like Modakam, Laddo’s and Modakams?

    They signify complete happiess in their round shape signifying Poornatvam(completeness). The garika used for worship is also more preferred for its response to solar energy and the power to fight and eradicate negative energy. It is called ‘Durva’ in Sanskrit. This piece of grass, that looks useless shows that we are born in a Land of Rishis who are capable of making something useful out of everything. This grass also has many medicinal applications as well. There are many mantras regarding this ‘Durva’ mentioned in the Vedas. God makes you somebody from Nobody, such is the nature of Ganapathy.

    The Lalita Sahasranamam states that: ''Kameshwara Mukhaloka kalpita Sri ganeshwara Maha ganesha Nirbhinna Vighna Yantra Praharshita”.

    In the Bandasura samhara, when Lalita Mata was in the battlefield against Bandasura, the senya(army) of Bhandasura created a Negative Vighna yantra or an Obstacle against Amma’s power. Hence, the Lalita Mata glanced at the Kameshwara Swaroopa of Lord Shiva and in the meeting of their eyes was born Ganapathy, who slayed the Vighna crteated by Bhandasura. The Shakti of Ganesha is born from the unison of Vyaktam and Avyaktam as mentioned earlier. When Prakriti(Nature) and Purusha(Man) meet, the energy resulted is Ganapathy. That energy of Ganapathy alone which was born from Lalita Kameshwara Samyogam could eradicate the evil crafted by Bhandasura. This yantram created by bhandasura, when analyzed contained the elements of laziness and sluggishness such as sleep, fear, delay etc which constituted negative depressing and regressive energies. These are all responsible for any kind of failure. This is a signification that for any kind of virtuous task to take place, be it a yogic task or a social task, the obstacles are right within us. Because of desire, anger, fear and lack of Knowledge, the tasks at hand get handicapped. Because of Bad useless thoughts and lack of effort, we will not see the desired results. Therefore obstacles are bound around us indifferent ways from mere thoughts to action.

    In any level, right from thoughts to action, these obstacles prevent us from getting Siddhi(proper success) n anything.Vighnam is the negative energy that is caused as an effect of Lack of Knowledge which can be eradivated only by the Lord Ganesha. Henceforth, the army of Lalitamba, the various devatas fought to Victory when Ganapathy had eradicated the obstacle.

    Veera Ganapathy

    '' Vetala Shakti Sarakurmukha Charma Khadga Khatvanga Mudgara Gadankusa naga pasan

    Shoolam Sukuntaparasudhwaja Mudwahantam,Veeram ganesha Marunam satatam namami”.

    Only and Only the worship of Veera Ganapathy can eradicate all the obstacles and success be attained.Any social or spiritual pursuit might face wit Vighnams, Obstacle sdue to Agnanam(Lack of Knowledge).worshipping Ganapathy leads to Veeram(Victory).

    Pashankusha vupa kuthara danta, chantatkarakshipta shubangualaleeyam

    Peeta prabham kalpa taroradhahastham, bhajami devam vijayam ganesham.

    Many composers, Vageyyakars have also worshipped Ganapathy.Potana alsoworshipped Lord Ganapathy before starting his Bhagavata KavyamMuttuswamy Dikshitar has composed many kritis like ‘Maha ganapatim Manasa smarami’ in his praise.

    Vatapi Ganapatim Bhaje is another mentionable Kriti with connotation.There is a special Kshetra in tamilnadu called ‘Vatapi’. Here the Swami was worshipped by Agastya Maharshi in the past.

    Kumbha sambhavam is none other than Rishi Agastya because he was born from a Kamandala.Agastyamaharshi,vishnumurti,Murari Pramukhas, Narayana have practiced Ganapathy Upasana.He resides in the Mooladhara Kshetra and exists In the form of Para, pasyanti, madhyama and Vaikhari.

    Vatapi is also air or gas in the human body. he is the regulator of this breath or air in the human body who concentrates this in an area called Vatapi Kshetram. Beacause the regulation and formulation of breath is a major yoga Prakriya, he is also the Yogi Ganapathy adverse in the Yoga Prakriya. Just like how an elephant takes in water from a lower state and take sit higher,similarly,Kundalini energy is rosen to a higher state to attain any kind of Siddhi. Therefore vatapi mainly refers to the regulation of life force in a higher state. To understand this Ganapathy better, one must focous on the inhale and exhale of ones breath.

    Hamsa-Soham have been mentioned in the process of Pranayamam in the Inhale-exhale process. Observing the movement of this Hamsa(Hamsa Dhwani) leads to Nada. The Upasana of this Hamsadhwani is only Yoga. Upasana of Nada shakti is Yoga.when Sound(Dhwani) is merged with Nada shakti, it leads to Yogam. Hence, this Kriti is also composed in Hamsadhwani Ragam.There is Yogam in Ragam also.The combination of these words with this nada is like practicing a Yogam.

    Para-Pranavasvarupam. The very singing and listening of this Kriti is Like Yoga sadhana.even in the pursuit of success, the only Lord who graces us is Ganapathy. Hence, worshipping Lord ganapthy is the eternal path to success. The Puranas Proclaim that Lord shiva meditated over Ganapathy before tarakasura samhara. Even Lord Vishnu prayed Ganapathy before slaying Hiranyakshapa. Parvati Mata also worshipped Ganapathy before Mahishasura Mardana.

    Our Swamiji is a Living example of someone who is able to give us the grasp of Lord Ganapathy’s namam, his miracle, his leela, his Mahima…the vast collection of his presencehrough his bhajans in an easily understandable way. Swamiji has attained fame all over the world through his Kriya Yoga, Bhakti, Nada Chikitsa, Healing etc.

    Any form of Nada is Swami himself… Listening to Sri Swamiji’s bhajans, with this thought, experiencing true nada and being inspired by his Bhajans, with his eternal Grace, I have attempted at writing this. Hoping for his blessings over us forever, I seek mercy for any mistakes made in this write-up and I also pray that I have the Privilege to keep listening to his Bhajans as long as I live and attain eternal happiness from them.

    The different forms of Ganapati is beautifully depicted in this Bhajan:
