    The Hindu Goddess Saraswati is regarded as the fountain of knowledge and wisdom. She is the sole authority who governs the book of knowledge along with Music, Science, technology and arts. She is also referred to as mother of “the Vedas” and “Vak Devi”, the goddess of voice. In the traditional Hindu mythology it is written as Goddess Saraswati is a consort to Lord Brahma and is a repository for His exquisite Knowledge and Intelligence.

    She is referred all overAsiawith different names, more or less similar in pronunciation and is worshiped all across the globe as Mother of knowledge and wisdom.

    Saraswati Vandana
    “Vandana”, is a Sanskrit word which means to pray and praise in adoration. She is adored and praised by reciting verses from “Saraswati Vandana Mantra” which is very sacred to the Hindu community. It is a way of praying which emphasizes more on the respect and praise than seeking abyss.

    Many people confuse “Vandana” as seeking blessing from Goddess Saraswati, which is not true. The Vandana is just like a praise song which appeases Her and if She is pleased with the faith and unselfish Hymn, she blesses Him with the grace of Knowledge and wisdom.

    Original this mantra is written in Sanskrit. Following are the exact lines from the mythology book of Mantras:

    या कुंदेंदु तुषारहार धवला, या शुभ्र वस्त्रावृता या वीणावर दण्डमंडितकरा, या श्वेतपद्मासना ||
    या ब्रह्माच्युतशंकरप्रभ्रृतिभिर्देवै: सदा वन्दिता सा मां पातु सरस्वती भगवती नि:शेष्य जाड्यापहा ||

    Hail to thee, who is as fair as the Star Jasmine, the lunar Moon, and a garland of Tushar flowers;
    Hail to thee, whose hands are adorned by the excellent veena, and whose seat is the pure white lotus;
    Hail to thee, who is constantly praised and glorified by Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh and other divinities;
    O Mother of knowledge and Goddess of wisdom, free me from the earthly confusion and illusion.

    As its always said that religion and prayers are not something to be experimented with. There is a fixed defined structure for praying and posture to be followed. The modernization of society has no doubt helped in spreading the word but have constantly abused the way Sloks and Mantras should be recited.if possible do try to recite it early in the morning after taking the bath and paying respcet to Surya Dev.
