Vedas are the founder pillar of the Sanatan Dharma. In this post we will try to elaborate how the effects of kali yuga decreases human consciousness. The vedas strictly said the monism, there is only one Lord. Monism is found in the Nasadiya Sukta of the Rigveda, which speaks of the One being-non-being that 'breathed without breath'. Further Rig Veda 1.64.46, Rig Veda 6.36.4, Rig Veda 7.86.3, Yajur Veda 31:18, Atharva 13.4[2]19-20, Atharva 20.85.1, Atharva 2.2.1, Yajur Veda 27.36, etc. repetedly said about the only one God. The supreme teaching of Veda is to raise the consciousness by self-realization that is there is no difference between Atman and the Brahman. Every drop of water contains the same property of the ocean. We can see these in several verses in Veda and Upanishads. प्रज्ञानं ब्रह्म (prajñānam brahma) - "Consciousness is Brahman" (Aitareya Upanishad 3.3 of the Rig Veda) अयमात्मा ब्रह्म (ayam ātmā brahma) - "This Self (Atman) is Brahman" (Mandukya Upanishad 1.2 of the Atharva Veda) तत् त्वम् असि (tat tvam asi) - "Thou art That" (Chandogya Upanishad 6.8.7 of the Sama Veda) अहं ब्रह्मास्मि (aham brahmāsmi) - "I am Brahman" (Brhadaranyaka Upanishad 1.4.10 of the Yajur Veda) पूषन्नेकर्षे यम सूर्य प्राजापत्य व्यूह रश्मीन् समूह | तेजः यत्ते रूपं कल्याणतमं तत्ते पश्यामि योऽसावसौ पुरुषः सोऽहमस्मि ॥१६॥ O Pushan, Sun, the sole pilgrim of solitude, Controller and absorber of all, Off spring of Prajapati; Withdraw thy rays and gather up Thy radiant brilliance. That form of Thine, Most gracious, Through Thy grace, I may behold. He, the Purush in the solar ark, I am. – Isha Upanishad In the dark age of kali yuga several sages reminded the humanity about the Advaita Vedanta starting from Adi Shankara. In short, Advaita declares everything is Brahman. "satyam jnanam anantam brahma", "Brahman is of the nature of truth, knowledge and infinity." ('Taittariya Upanishad' II.1) prajnānam brahma "Brahman is knowledge"- Aitareya Upanishad 3.3 सर्वं ह्येतद् ब्रह्मायमात्मा ब्रह्म सोयमात्मा चतुष्पात् sarvam hyetad brahmāyamātmā brahma soyamātmā chatushpāt All indeed is this Brahman; He is Atman; He has four steps/quarters. - Verse-2 The goal of Sanatan Dharma is to somehow "wake up," and realize one's own connection to the divine reality that may be called Brahman or God. Dhyana-Bindu Upanishad, Hamsa Upanishad, Maha Vakya Upanishad, Suka Rahasya Upanishad, Surya Upanishad, Tripuratapini Upanishad, Yoga Chudamani Upanishad Yoga Sikha Upanishad etc. said about the so’ham or ham’sa, I am that. Even the etymology of haṃsa "swan, goose" as from ahaṃ sa "I am that" is found in the 14th century commentary on the Vedas by Sayana. These supreme teaching or consciousness of vedas decreases as the Kali Yuga approaches, The new era of Purana starts, The Sanatan Dharma become Hindu and Hindus adopt the Trinity concept. That is the Brambah, Vishnu and Maheshwar. The oneness of veda thus divided into three part. Some adopt Shiva the supreme and Sivism starts, followers of Vishnu called themselves vaishnava and follower of Devi called themselves as sakta. Each of them developed different norms to separate from others like certain marks in forehead, dressing, etc. Later the puranic story maker came out of the Avatar concept to praise their Gods and dominate other god. The Sanskrit word avatar अवतार means "descent", is a deliberate descent of a deity to earth, or a descent of the several deities. In the race of Avatar Vishnu is the champion. He appears in Hindu scriptures, including the ten Dashavatara of the Garuda Purana and the twenty-two avatars in the Bhagavata Purana etc., though the latter adds that the incarnations of Vishnu are innumerable. An early reference to avatar, and to avatar doctrine, is in the Bhagavad Gita, which Vaishnava often quotes in support to their practice, but none of them read Mahabharata where Krishna is described as a person who becomes the highest yogi reflecting the teachings of Vedas. We will elaborate it in our “Krishna” post soon. Second place goes to Shiva with shiva maha puran, and third Ganesha with The Ganesha Purana and the Mudgala Purana. The various manifestations of Devi, the Divine Mother principal in Hinduism, are also described as avatars or incarnations by some scholars and followers of Shaktism with devi puran. In the race of Avatar Bambah the creator of the universe is the last one, with no avatar at all and very few temples (Pushkar is one). So here we can see the effects of kali yuga that they forget to praise their own creator, father of manu, from which the humans exists. As the dark age of kali yuga continues thousands of demi-god arrived, people divided into small groups with their demi gods, the different prophets trade their new religion. And thus the total consciousness has gone downwards. But after the end of kali yuga in 1700 AD (In later post we will describe how kali yuga ended in 1700 AD and now we are at the Drapara yuga with mathematical and astronomical explanation) the consciousness raises again in humans, and the era of vedas are coming again. As for a small example If one follow the facebook can easily noticed that every part of the world are accepting the self-realization, the oneness, the consciousness, that is the supreme teachings of vedas. We are all prophets; all avatars only the level of consciousness within us differs from each another. At the ultimate stage of self-realization each and every soul can experience the अहं ब्रह्मास्मि (aham brahmāsmi) - "I am Brahman"
