I would like to know about Hindu views and beliefs on suicide ..is it permissible or not ? what if person is in so much pain that death seems better option...if its allowed i would like to know the conditions where in it is allowed.
Suicide is considered adharmic, but nothing in Hinduism is seen as 'bad' in the way that the Abrahamic religions would say it is. Because of reincarnation and karma, the soul would just be reborn into another body and face the same karma over again anyway, so in that sense, suicide is just pointless ... doesn't really get you anywhere. Besides, you would likely create more karma because of the pain you caused to love ones. In the cases of terminal illness, it is allowable to fast to death, provided one has community and family support. This isn't considered active suicide, and does happen in rare cases. This id different than active euthanasia, which we would be against. To overcome pain in the last days while fasting, it is totally fine to take painkillers with the right adjustment to allow for a 'conscious and sober' death. Please understand, Aloisia, that because Hinduism is so vast, you will get many differing answers to all your questions. Rarely do Hindus all agree on something.
suicide is just pointless i agree but what when the pain of living and sickness becomes more brutal then life...i agree i have had chat with few guys they give all kind of answers....i accepted samadhi as best alternative to get in arms of death...isn't it strange that even self killing of body is termed as sin in Hinduism....i was told by many people that, a person committing suicide becomes a ghost or praeta (some sanskrit terminology) after death until his regular life span gets exhausted..
